Thomas Adrian Young studied Professional Mechanical Engineering at the College of Technology, Bolton Street, Dublin. He is a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, London and in 1973 was registered as a Chartered Engineer.
Adrian worked for Shell Netherland Chemie Rotterdam between 1970-1974, a 500,000 barrel/day refinery and associated petrochemical works ( the largest in the world at that time) employing in excess of 6000 people. He specialised in heat tranfer, i.e. thermal design of process furnaces, heat exchangers and cooling towers.
In 1974 Adrian moved to NET Cork where he worked for 12 years. He was involved in the design, construction and maintenance of a 1350 t/day ammonia plant and a 1000 t/day Urea plant. During the design and construction period he travelled throughout Europe and America visiting various equipment manufacturers. In 1984 Adrian was Technical Manager of Coal Distributors Ltd. and had total responsibility for the maintenance of all the plants, conveyors, ship unloaders, dock cranes, mechanical shovels, transport fleet and automatic bagging lines.
In 1988 Adrian set up Voss Engineering Ltd and has gained vast experience designing steelwork and machines for the concrete / quarrying sector and also the telecommunications industry.

Gareth Young studied Professional Mechanical Engineering at the College of Technology, Bolton Street, Dublin. He is an associate member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, London. Gareth has been associated with Voss Engineering since 1992 and after graduating in 1999 he became a full time employee of the company and is now a shareholder. He is conversant with all aspects of the company, and is heavily involved with design and estimating. Gareth is an expert in AutoCAD and is also an experienced web designer, having created the voss.ie website. Recently he has become a coded / certified welder for both pipe and plate.
Gareth successfully achieved CE certification for Voss Engineering in July 2014 by implementing a factory product contol and welding quality management system. He has trained at the welding institute in Cambridge as a certified visual welding inspector and is also a certified responsible welding co ordinator.
